What is Munich Jewellery Week?
Munich Jewellery Week is stated as ‘A week dedicated to the most exquisite contemporary jewellery’ . An independent enterprise that supports and promotes citywide jewellery exhibitions taking place during the week of the annual Handwerk & Design expo. Its world renowned jewellery exhibitions, namely: Meister der Moderne, Schmuck and Talente.
Taking place from the 8th to 14th March, Munich Jewellery Week showcases innovative contemporary jewellery by established and up-and-coming designers residing all over the world. From students to educators, fledgling designers to age old pros, this is the week to be part of for sure! Where collectors come from all over the world to have their eyes opened to the excitement of such a diverse selection of makers.
In the last 10 years, the expansion of the initiatives have grown and now an amazing 90+ independents are established, which guarantees a hugely successful and inspiring week.
A first time showing of Saloukee Jewellery in Munich …
I’m over the moon this year to be showcasing some fresh Saloukee pieces as part of Munich Jewellery Week. I’m lucky enough to also take the time to spend a few days in Munich, explore the surroundings, meet lots of inspiring designers and be part of a vibe which is promising to be pretty unique – a highlight of my career I hope.
I have been selected to be part of an in exhibition called Crash! Bang! Wallop! taking place in Tragbar Gallery (8th – 12th March 2017) curated by leading designers Sally Collins and Sabine Roth.
NEW Superfrilly-Saloukee collaboration …
Even more excited am I at the prospect that I will be showcasing work, that I have designed and made in collaboration with my dear friend and colleague Sally Collins.
“Superfrilly Saloukee, the first-time creative collision of two jewellery designers, coming together to explore their practice in collaborative form. To learn from one another and challenge each other’s’ boundaries in material, in making and in minds. Oversized forms, neon ombre and juxtaposition of materials and forms which aim to SHOUT OUT LOUD and explore the boundary if jewellery and fashion. ”
A sneak peek of what we’ve been working on …
Sally as a designer is somebody I have admired the work of for years. Not only is she bold and refined in her designing, her execution of hand crafted techniques is second to none – it’s been a real dream to conjure up two pieces of jewellery which we feel represents both of us in equally brave and testing outcomes.
We can’t wait to show the pieces in their full glory … I’ll be posting on my Instagram account over the next week during Munich, so you’ll see the pieces unveiled and more of what we get up to in Munich itself, so do join us there!
